Gio Ponti Floor

In 2012, at the initiative of Teresa Naldi, granddaughter of Engineer Fernandes and founder of the Royal Group brand, a philological restoration was carried out on the 24 rooms on the first floor of the Royal building, returning them exactly to their original design as envisioned by Ponti.

The project was overseen by architect Fabrizio Mautone, who began with the recovery of the original drawings to carry out a careful conservation of furniture and fittings, many of which were crafted from Ponti’s original designs by Dassi Mobili Moderni of Lissone. 
The furnishings were carefully cleaned, restored, and integrated, following a detailed study of the original fabrics and finishes
Today, the rooms on the Gio Ponti Floor showcase iconic dashboard-style headboards with integrated lighting and magazine racks, the celebrated three-drawer chest, vanities with circular mirrors, wardrobes, luggage racks, and many other furnishings designed by Ponti.

Furniture designed by Ponti is also displayed in the corridors and shared spaces, where visitors can admire original drawings from the Parco dei Principi project— the hotel the architect would later design in Sorrento for Roberto Fernandes. 
Along the corridors, several pieces by the Milanese architect are displayed—light, slender, almost suspended, defined by essential lines that remain warm and inviting.
